Dairy Farm Assistant

Braemer Dairies is currently seeking an experienced farm assistant from 1 August – 31 October to assist with the upcoming calving and mating period on a 580 cow farm at Methven, Canterbury.
Your duties will include:
· Milking in a 40 bale rotary shed with ACR’s
· Putting up break fences
· Checking cows during calving period
· Moving irrigation
· Identifying mastitis
· Assisting with calving
· Assisting with AI mating
· Collecting new born calves
· Riding a motorbike and quad bike
· General farm work
We are located 8 minutes from Methven, 30 minutes to Mt Hutt skifield and 25 minutes from Ashburton. Accommodation is a provided. We run a roster of 6 days on and 2 days.
The farm is smoke free and drug free.
In return you will have;
· A great attitude, current drivers’ license
· An approved working holiday visa or the required visa to work in New Zealand
· Your own car would be a great advantage
· Ability to work in a team and on your own when required
· Good communication skills including fluent spoken English as you will be required to follow instructions and work in an environment where you will be operating machinery
