Do you have relevant experience in a compliance, regulatory, enforcement or legal role, or experience in managing the tax or financial affairs of small, medium, or large entities? Positions are available in Whangarei, Takapuna, Manukau, Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin If this sounds like you, we we'd love to hear from you! Mo te tunga- About the role: Salary range $79,477 to $87,454 Training will be provided, as well as opportunities to record time toward continued professional development. In this varied role, you will be supported to: provide customer service across a variety of tax revenues both proactively and reactively to improve customers outcomes use available information and intelligence to understand the customer's situation, to negotiate (where appropriate) and resolve disputes and compliance issues identify and analyse compliance risks; select and implement appropriate responses including the use of investigative techniques or education to ensure the right business and customer outcomes provide tax and social policy technical support and advice to internal and external customers to provide certainty and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and audit practices prepare case work activity connecting with Legal Services for legal enforcement to support long-term customer compliance work in a networked way across IR and the use insights gained to develop solutions for customers. We are looking for people who, along with strong academic backgrounds and other complementary skills, can bring diverse perspectives to Inland Revenue. The ideal candidate will have the ability to solve problems by thinking critically and conceptually, engage well with stakeholders, work collaboratively in teams, and communicate complex ideas effectively. To reinforce your learning, this role is primarily office based however, we do offer some flexibility, along with support and development opportunities unique to you and your aspirations so that you can bring your whole self to work and thrive with us. Using your accounting related qualification or relevant experience, and with support, you will provide tax and social policy technical support and advice to improve customer experience and long-term compliance, and champion IR's customer-centric and intelligence-led culture. To be successful in this position you will possess the following attributes: A curiosity to discover, gather, analyse, and connect diverse pieces of information to problem solve and understand commercial or business activities The ability to effectively manage interactions with customers in a timely manner, including undertaking enquiries using different activities and/or communication methods Working cooperatively with customers to provide certainty of tax positions, both before and after return filing Be flexible, adaptable, and non-judgemental in their approach in order the achieve the right outcome for the circumstances A willingness to use new technology and innovative compliance intervention approaches to assist them in their work Well organised with strong time management skills Display resilience even when a challenge or setback arises Preferably a relevant tertiary qualification and or role experience that evidences credibility Te Tari Taake Inland Revenue plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand.
