We are looking for an Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our enthusiastic team. Our preference is to fill this role permanently with a vocationally registered surgeon to work up to 1.0 FTE, however we are also open to a discussion around a fixed term appointment (duration is negotiable).

Wairarapa Hospital is a secondary hospital with capacity of up to 90 beds, which services an urban and rural population of 43,000. There is a Level 4 Emergency Department with associated High Dependency Unit, 24/7 access to CT, providing 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry and anaesthetics.
As a member of our Orthopaedic team you will be one of four Orthopaedic Surgeons in a unit which provides a comprehensive public and in private orthopaedic service for the population of the Wairarapa. In view of the opportunity for a private income this appointment is likely to be either permanent part time or fixed term part time. An interest in arthroplasty would be an advantage.
Wairarapa District Health Board has a close liaison with Selina Sutherland Hospital, an independent onsite private facility. Selina Sutherland is run by a charitable trust and has its own board. It leases facilities from and works in a symbiotic way with the DHB to provide options for healthcare in the Wairarapa.
There is an on call requirement to this role, afterhours through the week and over the weekend. This is managed from within the team.
