Senior Academic Tutor - Construction could be for you!Mo Tenei Turanga Mahi - About the RoleBy applying your knowledge and skills to this role, you will enable learners to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to complete their qualification and apply it to their work when they are employed in the industry.Join a team that values high standards, maintaining academic integrity and quality, work to high professional standard and demonstrate the qualities to learners that will be expected by future employers.The role requires research to be undertaken, focussing on civil engineering and construction management areas.
This is an important part of the role, ensuring Ara is refining the programmes of study within engineering and construction.You will ensure that learners are supported and there is a healthy working and learning environment operating within the department and teaching spaces.Not only will you teach in our purpose-built Engineering, Architecture and Construction Departmentin Christchurch, but you will also have travel to China to deliver construction courses overseas!
In China you will deliver courses over 10-12 weeks.Candidates must have a current and relevant NZ work visa that allows multiple entries into the country as the ability to travel to and from China will be required.Nga Pukenga Me Nga Wheako - Skills and experienceA Masters or higher qualification in the area of the programme of study or a related discipline.Current industry/discipline knowledge in the fields of commercial construction and infrastructure.An Ara-recognised teaching qualification is preferredA high level of understanding and experience in the knowledge and practices related to the Programme of Study (Civil Engineering and Construction)Knowledge and competency in the use of the relevant tools (hardware and software) that are used in Industry for those allocated courses that are taught in the Programme of StudyVision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learningCapable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomesThe ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the use of learning technologies.The ability to integrate practices that support societal priorities into teachingEmbraces Ara values/ matapono and KaupapaWorks collaboratively and co-operatively, contributes to teams.Recognises diversity positively (cultural, socioeconomic, age, ability)Sound professional judgment and integrityMo Matou - About usAra Institute of Canterbury a business division of Te Pukenga (Ara), is a vibrant and progressive tertiary institute providing world-class, tertiary-level education throughout the Canterbury and Waitaki region.
