Construction Support

Established in 1979, Thompson Construction and Engineering has been operating from South Canterbury. With our excellent team of approx 100 we undertake the full project from Design, Steel Fabrication, Precast and Construction for our clients.
This role offers a varied and interesting role to a versatile and skilled person whom would like to join our Construction Support Team and assist us with civil works calculations, quantifying and scheduling, tendering with subcontractors, quality control, resource consent applications, site setout for building foundations and siteworks, interpreting plans and becoming proficient in civil/CAD based software packages.
This role supports the civil manager and construction teams and will suit a suitably experienced person with excellent attention to detail, accurate measuring skills, ability to interpret and create drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures. Be able to assess and work out suitable solutions for construction tasks and assist with onsite where required.
The role requires the use of civil works survey type equipment to record heights, measures etc.
Prior experience in all aspects of heavier construction will be an advantage.
This role may require the ability to work at heights and looks for a high level of workmanship. And also requires accountability and ownership of the tasks undertaken
Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements is required. A suitable person will need to be able to work confidently in a team and on their own. Be able to take ownership of the role and get on well with others.

Our workspaces are both drug and smoke-free and we maintain a dress code onsite. Pre-employment and random drug testing can be undertaken.
Must be residing in NZ with a current work visa and have a full NZ drivers licence.
