The Drainlayer is responsible for undertaking programmed inspections, carrying out routine and emergency maintenance for the safety of the public, capital works under direction of the Operations Manager. You will be part of the new Downer Water and Automation team who are the Industrial EICA part of Downer New Zealand. We are in the growth phase of building capacity and capability across Electrical, Instrumentation and Control aspects of the industrial environment starting in the Construction and Utilities sectors. This team has been built on being New Zealand’s largest provider of on-road technology services and a recognised industry leader and we are using this base to grow. We use a full suite of products to create innovative solutions providing high-quality services to our clients.

A bit about your role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a high performing team carrying out maintenance work across water, wastewater and stormwater. You will be responsible for routine/reactive manhole lid repairs, cleaning of vegetation and clearing of storm event debris other obstruction from the carriageway footpath and drainage systems. You will have planned work and work that will come from the contract Manager.
A bit about you:
Preferable to have several years’ experience in stormwater drainage maintenance or road maintenance Experience drain / pipelaying Skills with small machinery. Preferably experienced in small engine repair Time management skills Some computer skills desired Qualified in the identification and rating of faults Must be able to work unsupervised Must have initiative and good decision making skills. Both financial and operational Traffic management skills desirable Preferred current Class 2 driver’s license minimum Class 1
