ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated part time Community Psychiatric Nurse to join the Older Persons Mental Health Team (Psychogeriatric service) for 20 hours per week. The service is based in the Hutt Valley, a wonderful suburban location just 15 minutes from beautiful Wellington city.

Our multidisciplinary team is part of the Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service at Hutt Hospital and provide assessment and treatment to clients over the age of 65 with dementia with BPSD and/or functional mental health issues.

We are looking for someone who is confident in their role as a community nurse and mental health key worker, has excellent assessment and communication skills, is a great team player and has an ability to work independently.

We can offer you a very friendly and supportive team environment, regular supervision and in-service training as well as the opportunity to be involved in service development projects. Our role involves seeing clients primarily in the community. Whilst knowledge of dementia is helpful and preferred, this role involves working primarily with older mental health clients. If you are passionate about providing excellent mental health nursing care and have knowledge of complex elderly and community work then we are very keen to hear from you.
