We are working with a leading Australian commercial law firm who have continued growing their Sydney office over the past few years through the appointments of key partners and teams.

Commercial IP/IT Group

The Commercial IP/IT practice group provide a full legal services complement to clients across information technology and intellectual property including private and publicly listed companies, government entities and not-for-profit organisations. The organisations they service are dotted across Australia and around the world.

The practice in Sydney consists of two well-regarded partners. The lawyers in this close knit team are genuinely great to work with and on offer is exceptional quality and breadth of work in a friendly and collegial environment.

Position Description

This role will see you focus on a range of complex and challenging work across the IT, telecommunications, IP and general commercial space including:
Preparing and negotiating a variety of IT contracts including distribution, software agreements, licensing, maintenance and support agreements;
Advisory and litigious work arising out of technology and sourcing agreements;
New media and e-commerce;
Telecommunications network joint ventures, roaming service contracts, network equipment procurement; and
IP and technology advice on M&A transactions.

It promises to be a varied and interesting position.

Requirements

You will be a3 to 6 yearlawyer with proven commercial law experience, ideally with a focus on information technology and/or intellectual property transactions, including:
the ability todraft and negotiatea range of commercial agreements; and
advising onregulatory issues.

In addition, you will have:
a developingprofessional profileand an ability to develop an internal network beyond the practice group;
a developingcommercial awareness; and,
a proven ability toprioritise multiple tasks.
