This role will have you developing and managing the expansive collection, while overseeing the exhibition programme. You will be integral in enabling your team to develop and grow within the museum and heritage space.A typical day might include:Ensuring the effective management and safe custody of the museum's collection.Providing advice on the development of the collection in accordance with acquisition and disposal policies.Preparing exhibition briefing material for staff, visitor hosts, and external agencies.Contributing to the development, management and leadership of the National Army Museum team as a harmonious and enthusiastic group, maximising their outputs.To be successful in this role, you will have an extensive background in the Museum sector (5+ years) with considerable practical experience in both project and personnel management. You will have proven experience in developing/overseeing collections and exhibitions.Additionally, you will also possess:Excellent technical knowledge related to the management of collections.The ability to prioritise tasks to meet timeframes and effectively manage changing priorities.A proven ability to produce written material such as catalogues, exhibition story lines and concepts, business cases and other promotional material.A Museum qualification at post graduate level is highly desirable, but considerable experience in the museum sector will be greatly beneficial.Waiouru is a remote working location. To get the most out of this role (and its location), we suggest taking up mountain biking, hiking, skiing, hunting/fishing, nature-photography, or anything that benefits from a vast outdoor landscape.
