KEY OBJECTIVE

The key objective of this senior role is to develop, operate, secure, and support database cloud services for Oracle’s industry customers. This is an outstanding and unique opportunity for an experienced Oracle database technology specialist to join Oracle’s industry-leading Cloud Foundation Services (CFS) global organization and take your career to the next level. Cloud Foundation Services offers a portfolio of services including the Micro-Services Platform (MSP), Operations Stack (OST), Database as a Service (DBaaS), and Software Delivery as a Service (SDaaS) pipeline to support high margin, highly elastic, and highly available SaaS applications running on Oracle’s next generation cloud Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Cloud Foundation Services provides mission-critical cloud services for the Oracle Global Business Units (GBUs). The GBUs are dedicated vertical organizations with deep domain industry expertise that provide best-of-breed technologies to help solve the most complex business problems for Oracle’s industry customers located around the world. The GBU industry verticals include Retail, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Communications, Health Sciences, Financial Services, Construction & Engineering, and Utilities business sectors, with each operating mission-critical applications that require 24x7 support. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:
* Development of database cloud features.
* Operational maintenance of cloud services.
* Collaborate with the Security Engineering organization to implement security controls and directives.
* Provide escalation support for database related issues.
* Alert and diagnostic monitoring.
* Work closely with Product Development teams and provide feedback to improve product quality.
* Develop administration automation and monitoring scripts as needed.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures/documentation.
* Share knowledge with team members as needed.
* Attend regular team meetings and participate in team building activities.
* Other duties, as assigned.
* Participate 24x7 on call support on a monthly rotating schedule for weekends in a Follow the Sun organization.
This role includes variable work patterns and there will be a requirement for flexibility of hours in order to support varying business requirements. Start and end times will vary depending on business need. We will consult with you should the need arise to change your work pattern. In addition to weekdays, you may need to work weekend shifts / overtime and an occasional Public Holiday, on a rotational basis. Appropriate compensation is provided for this work.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING* Must be a motivated, team-player with the ability to work cross functionally with a “can-do” and “do-it-right” attitude, a self-starter, and constantly thinking of ways to improve the work. We are looking for someone that has a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
* Experience working in an Agile culture and practicing DevOps.
* Experience in software development and solution architecture.
* Experience with Oracle Database 12c, 18c, 19c, RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Golden Gate, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
* Experience with Oracle Linux or equivalent.
* Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, administering of mission-critical databases.
* Experience with database backup and recovery.
* Experience with database patching and upgrades.
* Competence in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
* Competence in any Unix shell script, Java, Perl script, or Python.
* Strong troubleshooting skills to investigate errors and performance bottlenecks.
* 8+ years of experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with a focus in Oracle and related tools.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
* Verifiable Oracle certifications in Oracle Database.

Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:
* Experience with in any of Jenkins, Gitlab, Ansible, or Terraform.
* Experience administering databases on Exadata.
* Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure, or AWS.
* Experience with Oracle’s Maximum Security Architecture and the Advanced Security Option.
* Experience implementing INFOSEC security standards such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOC2, NZISM, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001, et al.
* Certifications such as Security+, CASP, GSEC, GSLC, CISSP, CEH, CISM, or CISA.
* Experience in developing and managing services in a method consistent with ITIL v3.
* Experience with an organization with a key 24x7 reliance on its databases.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.Job
