Our Purpose:Why we do it
When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.
The Team:What we do
The Canterbury DHB's Community Dental Service (CDS) provides dental services to nearly 90,000 children aged 0-13 in Canterbury and South Canterbury and supports our colleagues on the West Coast. There are 110 front-line clinical staff who work with modern equipment in 22 mobile dental units and 13 dental clinics.
As a Clinical Team Leader, you will be working in community and school settings with children and their families/whanau. You'll have the opportunity to work with diverse patient groups and manage a wide variety of oral health problems. You will be a reflective practitioner who embraces innovation and advances in clinical practice and will enjoy working in a team alongside other skilled Dental/Oral Health Therapists and Assistants. You will also be working within a leadership team with four other Clinical Team Leaders and a Clinical Manager to lead and improve clinical services.
This role will be responsible for our teams in Timaru and Ashburton, however we may consider the option for this role to be based in Christchurch and commute south.
The Role:Where you fit in
In this role, you will be responsible for:
providing clinical leadership and support to Dental Therapists and Dental Assistants within the service
maintaining a designated clinical caseload
ensuring the provision of high quality services within the team, aligned with professional standards and evidence based practice

providing accurate advice to the professional workforce and across CDS regarding professional practice, standards and policies
encouraging and supporting the professional development of Dental Therapists and Assistants.

Your skills will include:
Qualification in Dental Therapist/Oral Health Therapist recognised by the NZ Dental Council and a current Practicing Certificate
Membership of the relevant professional body
Demonstrated broad experience as a Dental/Oral Health Therapist
Experience with clinical teaching/supervision, training and development of staff
A broad knowledge of the health and disability sector
