We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed clinical psychologist to join our Older Adult Mental Health OAMH STAR 1 team The OAMH team which sits under the umbrella of the Mental Health Addictions Service MHAS provides a psychogeriatric service mainly to the elderly population of the Manawatu Horowhenua and Tararua districts There are approximately 170 000 people in the area of whom about 30 000 are aged 65 years and over STAR 1 is an inpatient ward resourced for 11 beds and takes up to 14 for the older adult mental health services We provide specialist assessment and treatment for adults aged 65 years and over who are experiencing mental illness and or cognitive changes Our multi disciplinary team works collaboratively to optimise the function and wellness with the aim of supporting our clients to continue in the community In this role you will Provide quality clinical psychology assessment and intervention Participate and lead as the MDT as required Engage with the family and whanau to ensure both clinical and cultural appropriateness in line with patient and family goals Be registered with a professional body and in possession of a current practicing certificate Hours of work will be 40 hours per week MidCentral District Health Board is committed to ensuring that children and young people are safe from abuse and harm As part of our commitment to children and young people and in line with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 appointment to positions that involve regular or overnight contact with children will include worker safety checks These checks are in addition to the requirement to have a satisfactory police clearance Further information will be provided to shortlisted candidates More information about the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 is available from the Ministry of Vulnerable Children website Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
