The Southern DHB
As a DHB, we are responsible for planning, funding and providing health and disability services to a population of over 315,000 located South of the Waitaki River. Our catchment area encompasses Invercargill City, Queenstown - Lakes District, Gore, rural Southland, Clutha, Central Otago, Maniototo, Waitaki District and Dunedin City.
About the Role
You will be carrying out neuropsychological assessments and capacity assessments. You will be working with the rehabilitation team to design and deliver cognitive rehabilitation interventions. You will also be assessing patients/clients emotional state, and working therapeutically with them as appropriate to the setting.
The post encompasses both inpatient and outpatient/community work, and is one of three psychologists’ posts within the service. The post has an attractive allocated budget and study leave allocation for continuing professional development.
The position is situated in Dunedin, New Zealand’s fifth largest city (population the approx 125,000), an emerging tourist destination on the Pacific coast, with a thriving university (home of the world-renowned “Dunedin Study”). Queenstown and the Lakes District are within three hours’ drive.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic neuropsychologist / clinical psychologist to work within the physical / neuro-rehabilitation team for the Community and Rehabilitation Service at Wakari Hospital, Dunedin.
Your clients, who have neurological and/or physical disorders, will benefit from your experience and ability to work in a wider interdisciplinary team, where you will be responsible for assessing the clients’ needs, and assisting them to meet their rehabilitation goals.

Applicants must have a New Zealand Diploma in Clinical Psychology or overseas equivalent qualification, and hold a current practising certificate. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.
