Would you like to join the experienced and enthusiastic team of clinical psychologists at Whanganui District Health Board to provide quality comprehensive evidenced based assessment and therapeutic interventions?
We are looking for a committed full time clinical psychologist to work in our Maternal Infant Child Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions team based at Whanganui as well as providing support to rural areas covered by the Whanganui District Health Board. The position provides psychological assessments, therapy based interventions, and evaluation to support young people and their families to develop problem solving skills and resilience.
As MICAMHAS Whanganui follows the Choice and Partnership (CAPA) service model knowledge of this model would be advantageous but not essential.
The successful applicant will have experience in case management, assessment, treatment and therapy interventions and have a range of knowledge and skills to support young people accessing our service interfacing with primary care providers when required.
This position requires you to have a number of essential skills and knowledge requirements beyond the normal relevant tertiary qualification. To be considered you will need:
registration as a psychologist (clinical scope) with NZ Psychologist Board and current annual practicing certificate
Police screening
Child and Youth clinical psychology service experience is desirable
experience in a range of evidenced based therapeutic modes specific to young people and their families is desirable or the willingness to participate in post graduate training
the ability to function in rapidly changing and demanding conditions when required
the ability to practice collaboratively and enable shared decision making with young people and families.
high levels of communication, customer relations and managing diversity skills, empathy and cultural sensitivity
Experience in working with families would be an advantage.
Clean driver's license.
