primary requirements

1. New Zealand post graduate diploma in Clinical Psychology or overseas equivalent.
2. Must have completed at least five years of post-supervisory hands on treatment.
3. Registration with the NZ Psychologists Registration Board as a NZ clinical psychologist or has lodged a non-binding assessment of qualifications with the NZ Psychologists Registration Board and received a favourable ruling from the NZ Psychologists Registration Board.
4. Current Practicing Certificate.
5. Previous work done in the area of psychological assessment and providing treatment service and expertise in child and adolescent mental health areas.
6. The ability to obtain a NZ driver’s license and willingness to travel to rural areas.
7. Previous experience working in a multi disciplinary team desired.
8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Good problem solving skills.
10. Ability to prioritise activities.
11. Effective interpersonal skills.
12. Ability to work as part of a team.
13. Ability to manage stress.
14. Sense of humour.
15. Able and willing to commit at least two years to our client.
16. Able and willing to apply for NZ residency with the intention of immigrating to NZ long term highly desired.
primary duties

1. Provide psychological assessments, utilising psychological interviewing, diagnostic, behavioural and appropriate psychometric assessment based on current literature and availability as required.
2. Deliver a variety of empirically based interventions to individuals, couples, families or groups with complex needs as appropriate to the setting and presenting problems.
3. Present material to the unit and service or other groups in order to inform practice and convey a psychological perspective on clinical issues. Participate in peer group education review and participate in appropriate training and re-training workshops, conferences and seminars incorporating study leave.
4. Liaise closely with medical and other health professionals within the team and the MH service and cooperation and coordinate with other referring agencies to ensure the delivery of the best service and care possible. Contribute to the treatment plans at assessment presentations and patient review meetings. Provide psychometric assessment and psychological treatment within the team and across teams. Provide psychological knowledge and expertise for other professionals within the team and across teams. Consult with regional and national groups such as professional bodies and ministry of health. Participate in and initiate research programmers.
5. Ensure that practice is professional and ethical to meet medico-legal requirements.
6. Participate in the formulation and initiation of Unit, Service and Division policy.
7. Perform delegated responsibilities that may be additional to those in this job description, by negotiation. Initiate negotiations on change in job description as appropriate. Complete appointed tasks to the satisfaction of the manager.
8. Ensure all activities and activity levels are both consistent with and meet the goals as stated within the unit business plan. Contribute to the business planning within the unit. Meet all contact activity levels from the business plan. Be fully conversant with the business plan and targets for the year.
