The Southern District Health Board
The Southern District Health Board (SDHB) exists to support everyone across our district to live well, and access the right care when they need it, by delivering high quality, patient-centred and equitable health services to our diverse communities.
We are responsible for planning, funding and providing health and disability services to a population of over 315,000 located South of the Waitaki River. Our catchment area encompasses Invercargill City, Queenstown - Lakes District, Gore, rural Southland, Clutha, Central Otago, Maniototo, Waitaki District and Dunedin City. This means Southern DHB serves the largest geographic region of all New Zealand's health boards.
To achieve this we work in partnership with Iwi,primary care and community providers, rural trust hospitals and education and research partners across the district. Altogether, we receive government funding of over $900 million per annum. Southern DHB has a staff of approximately 4,500 and is currently governed by a Commissioner and two deputy Commissioners.
About the team
The New Dunedin Hospital Programme Management Office team works closely with SDHB staff, the Ministry of Health and the Health Planners and Architects involved with designing our new hospital. Each of our four project managers have their own areas of expertise and we also have a Programme Director, Communications Advisor and Project Coordinator supporting the team. As the New Dunedin Hospital Programme grows and develops our team will too.
About the role - what's in it for me?
Reporting to the Programme Director - Dunedin Hospital Development and Transformation Support, this crucial role will see you make a real difference to the delivery of healthcare services in the Southern region. This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced Health Professional with skills and knowledge of clinical project management to apply their planning and leadership skills in support of the changes to our healthcare system. We are now entering the phase of design and are extending our team in order to take on the additional workload that this will involve.
The main responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:
Liaising with a range of key stakeholders to gain input into the design of a future model of care and new facilities
Development and maintenance of key project outputs such as risk/issues, change control, monitoring and reporting
Advising and supporting senior SDHB decision makers through recommendations, cost-benefit analyses, reports and briefings
Support and contribute to the transformational activities across the health system to ensure delivery of a contemporary model of care

About you
To succeed in this exciting role you will need to have the following:

Significant clinical experience; you must be a registered health professional with a current APC
Solid experience in Project Management , a relevant qualification would be desirable
Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully engage with a range of stakeholder groups
The ability to review complex documents to pull out relevant information and potential risks
The ability to effectively operate in an often ambiguous environment

Ideally you'll have a background within the public sector, and knowledge of the healthcare system and hospital infrastructure would be extremely beneficial.
