The Team:What we do
Here in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit we pride ourselves in being innovative, forward thinking and up to date with technology and change. Due to the expansion of the service, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse or nurses; with expert knowledge and skills in motility services to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit undertakes 10,000 diagnostic and interventional endoscopy procedures per year and provides other gastrointestinal services such as oesophageal and ano-rectal manometry, ano-rectal ultrasound, biliary manometry and 24-hour oesophageal pH and impedance studies and nurse-led biofeedback therapy to the Canterbury population. It is also a secondary and tertiary referral service for the South Island with a strong research programme that is recognised internationally, in addition to an active undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching programme.
Most of our nursing team work in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit; a purpose built facility with four procedures rooms and a fifteen bed recovery area. The Unit is operational Monday to Friday, with specialist nursing clinics occurring both here and in the outpatient building nearby.
The Role:Where you fit in
We are looking for a positive individual who is committed to quality improvement, is passionate about motility services and who will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure, high quality, patient centred care is delivered to our patients to improve their health outcomes.
You will be an experienced practitioner with expert knowledge and skills in motility services and have an understanding on how this fits with the wider gastroenterology service
Proven leadership ability and solution focused approach, with the ability to implement a nursing care model that educates, supports and encourage others within team in achieve common service goals
You will act as a specialist resource for patients, medical practitioners and other nurses
Currently hold or be working towards a relevant Post Graduate qualification
Being enthusiastic, motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide variety of people
