The Team
??Ashburton Hospital provides a range of Inpatient, day patient, Outpatient and community based health services to the community. We are on the lookout for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Nurse Practitioner Candidate) with a passion for older person's health and gerontology nursing.
The Role:
You will be a Registered Nurse with extensive gerontological knowledge and experience, advanced clinical assessment skills, the ability to engage staff at all levels, flexibility to ensure the needs of all staff are met, an understanding of PDRP and the capability to develop practice, understand and influence standards of care and lead positive change
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) (Nurse Practitioner Candidate) provides advanced clinical nursing expertise and leadership to enhance access and quality of care for older people and their whanau/families. This position as a NPC is expected to progress through the nursing pathway to successfully attain Nurse Practitioner qualifications and endorsement
This role focuses on the breadth of issues that encompasses the health of older people. This will include a significant focus on supporting people with dementia and other mental health related issues in the community, inpatients and aged residential care
You will work in collaboration with Medical Officers, Psychogeriatricians, Geriatrician, CNS Gerontology, General Practitioners, nursing team members and other health care professionals, service users, whanau, families and communities to promote health, and to diagnose, assess and manage the mental health and gerontology needs of the Ashburton and Rural Health Services older adult population, across the care continuum
