Permanent 32 hours per week
Gisborne District Council is working together with our communities to make our aspirations happen. Tairawhiti is the first place to see the light and we’re working to transform our region to be the first choice for people and lifestyle, the first place for environment, economy and culture.
We are currently seeking a City Watch Officer to join our City Watch Team. The purpose of this role is to provide an effective security patrol presence within the CBD to deal with minor bylaw infringements and assisting retailers as appropriate whilst acting as the eyes and ears for Police, Parking Wardens and Council Bylaws Officers for serious infringements.
Ultimately we are about delivering on our vision of Piritahi Tairawhiti – making our people proud.
To be successful in this role you will
have proven interpersonal skills
have the ability to operate as part of a team
have the ability to work unsupervised
have sound interpretative, analytical and problem solving skills
have the ability to remain clear headed in stressful situations
be physically fit and able to withstand land periods of time on foot
be self-motivated with excellent time management
You must have a basic knowledge of working with tangata whenua as a prerequisite for this role or at least a willingness to learn.
