Childcare/Support Worker - Halswell

We are looking for an extra special person to occasionally help out with our two children - aged 10 and 11. We live in Halswell and would prefer someone who lives not too far away.Our 11 year old boy is neurodiverse (developmental delay with autistic type traits especially around transitions and routines, some language challenges, cognitive delays). He enjoys being outside, going for walks, water play, bouncing on the trampoline. Our 10 year old girl LOVES gymnastics, animals and creative play.The ideal person would be kind and compassionate with an interest in the special needs world, and in working alongside children to help achieve their potential in life. Patience and a sense of humour are a must! You will also need a good level of fitness and enjoy being outside and active. We are looking for someone who knows how to play, is energetic and has plenty of initiative. You also need to be comfortable around dogs. Flexibility to help out wherever needed would be great - sometimes this might mean taking the dog for a walk, doing a bit of cleaning or gardening.Key tasks/competencies- take initiative and come up with play ideas/outings- engage in active play outside and around the home- promote conversation and try out new activities/skills- take child/children on short outings- carry out some personal cares - (nappy changes, dressing etc)- be confident dealing with two very different children, each with their own interests and challengesIdeally, we would love to employ someone who can commit to building up a long term relationship with our children and our family. A degree of flexibility around working hours would also be advantageous. Our main needs are in the school holidays, generally for around 3 hours each day (April 15th - 28th, July 8 - 21,  Sept 30 - Oct 13th, plus over the summer break). Outside of school holidays, there could be some casual weekend and evening hours by negotiation. For the right person, we can make this a set number of hours per week.
