We have a rare Senior Nursing leadership opportunity within our Perioperative team, for an experienced and ambitious nurse to join our team in a Charge Nurse Manager capacity.
About the department
Southland Hospital is a secondary care facility and we are proud of our perioperative service, which incorporates four operating theatres, Day Surgery and an endoscopy service. Our theatres provide elective and acute surgery with specialties that include Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Bariatric, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, Plastics and Paediatric Surgery.

About the role
Reporting to the Service Manager, Surgical, this role will see you interfacing with the multidisciplinary team across the pre to post-operative spectrum, in collaborative partnership with Service Managers and Medical and Allied Health professionals to support, coordinate and monitor nursing performance across the Perioperative service.
You will strive to foster a culture within the unit that continues to strive for excellence in clinical services. Key accountabilities of this role include; strategic leadership, staff education, development and recruitment, along with financial management, production planning, report writing, quality and risk management. Operationally, you will turn your hand to supervision, mentoring and developing relationships through close liaison with other services both internal and external.
About you
Our new Charge Nurse Manager must bring a clear focussed vision; strive for contemporary practice, have the ability to inspire staff, acting as a positive role model and being their advocate when needed. It is also important that you are able to build solid networks, both within the DHB and nationally.
Applicants must hold a current New Zealand Practicing certificate and demonstrate relevant post graduate qualifications
