Job Description

Lakes District Hospital
Make this role your own with passion, vision and expertise
Scope to make a difference
About the role
We are seeking an experienced RN leader to be our next Charge Nurse Manager for Lakes District Hospital at Frankton, Queenstown. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse who is an experienced leader or for someone who is looking for the next step in their career. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Director of Nursing, our Charge Nurse Manager will work in partnership with clinical and other staff, leading a team of nurses working across the Emergency Department, Ward and Outpatient Services. The role is hugely varied, in a rural location, many hours away from a base hospital. You need to be a strong decision maker, have excellent communication and have the ability to prioritise in high-pressure situations. You will work as part of the wider team to contribute to the strategic and operational management in a way that is consistent with the organisations vision and values. You will find yourself part of a friendly and professional team working in a modern ED and a small rural hospital serving the population of Queenstown and the Wakatipu.
About you
Professional and Clinical Nurse Leadership and ensuring the delivery of safe high quality nursing care are key responsibilities so we are looking for someone who has led and managed wards/units to provide safe, efficient and effective services. Proven clinical expertise in ED and rural hospital inpatient nursing is an advantage. You will have a strong focus on patient safety and will lead the roll out of the SDHB Patient Safety and Releasing Time to Care programme.
You are a credible and experienced leader who can inspire staff, acting as a positive role model and being an advocate when needed. We seek a leader who believes strongly in our values and has an interest in promoting professional development and education amongst staff. It is also important that you are able to build solid networks, both within the DHB and nationally.
