Summary
Casual roles are to cover leave for permanent Support Workers - the hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a causal you’ll be able to work across our continuum of services over a 7 day working week. We’re looking for people who can work in all or some of the following places: Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Hutt Valley.
The shifts are:
Awake night shifts: 10.45pm - 7.15am. We currently have a high need to fill these shifts.
Morning shifts: 7.00am - 3.30pm
Afternoon shifts: 2.30 pm - 11.00 pm or 2.45 pm – 11.15 pm
As a Casual Support Worker, you will be working across our services: community mobile, respite, residential and recovery, which are across the Wellington Region. As majority of the services are not on reliable bus routes that align with shift start and end times, you will need to have your own transport for getting to work, you might be working at a variety of different tasks, in respite supporting up to four guests with medication support, providing a listening ear for long periods at times; supporting with activities on site, maintaining a large home; cleaning, cooking and serving healthy attractive meals, hosting and visiting clinical teams
In our Residential services you will be beside the person supporting with appointments, shopping, cleaning, medication etc. In our community services you will be undertaking home based support that includes support people with household tasks, attending appointments, grocery shopping taking medication and exercise from home.
In our community teams you will be visiting people in their own homes to support them with a home-based recovery daily living activity, including support with taking medication, meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, gardening, household cleaning and exercise from home.

The Team
You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Pathways Wellington team who all have the common purpose to support people experiencing mental illness.

You will also need to have:
A current full driver’s licence
A current first aid certificate or are you willing to obtain one
For our respite services, applications must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent, or are currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent?
Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offers significant support for support workers to complete this study.
