About this role

What you will do
The Capability Sustainment Manager provides technical advice on a range of issues and works as an intermediary between the units that support and sustain the aircraft fleets at Ohakea.
You will be part of the Materiel Support Wing Business Performance Team established to work through long term support requirements and initiatives for the NH90, A109 and the soon to be added P-8 fleets. Thus support is constantly evolving, and the current support climate requires ongoing long term and strategic considerations. You will be providing quality assessments of aeronautical Through Life Support (TLS), including but not limited to the proactive shaping of the obsolescence in-service management practices such as data capture, analysis, risk reporting and recommendations.
What we need
To be successful in this role, you will have 8-10 years aeronautical experience and qualifications to match. We are needing candidates to have:
National Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering (Applied Skill) Level 4;
NZQF Aeronautical Engineering (Production Control) Level 6;
Life cycle management of capability and materiel systems;
Previous experience in certifying aircraft maintenance under Part 66 / DAR 66 for a NZ recognised Civil Aviation Authority or military equivalent;
In depth and thorough working knowledge of the principles of technical airworthiness in order to support RNZAF critical outputs through regulatory compliance;
Knowledge of quality management standards;
Obsolescence management experience.
Ideally you will have experience in building relationships with colleagues at all levels effectively and quickly become a trusted advisor within the team.
Ideally you will also possess the following skills:
Project management and risk management experience
Strong attention to detail skills
Mentoring and leadership experience
Sound knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, such as SAP BI

Defence Logistics Command (DLC) supports the NZDF by providing logistics (maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)), most supply chain and warehousing operations (SCWO), commercial services and shared services to the single Services and HQ Joint Forces NZ. The DLC support role is summarised by “feed, fuel, fix, arm, move, procure, pay”. DLC provides logistics policy and advice internally to the NZDF and externally to NZDF's stakeholders on a Whole of Government (WoG) basis. DLC is responsible for multi-national logistics policy and implementation through a series of bilateral and multilateral agreements and forums.
