Rakaia Huts "the fisherman's paradise"



If you have ever driven through Rakaia, you will have noticed the huge salmon in the township and this is because it is abundant in the Rakaia River. Stretching over 60km, the Rakaia River has different fishing rulings depending on where you are accessing the river.



Located at the mouth (northern side) of the Rakaia River. This is part of Selwyn's diverse landscape and one of many great camping spots available.



About the role

We are seeking a suitably experienced person to fill the position of the Rakaia Huts Campground Caretaker/Cleaner. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months and 20 hours per week (over 7 days),



* As Caretaker you are the site representative, First Aid training and Fire Warden training can be provided.
* Minor building maintenance is required by the caretaker however, our Reserves Officer is available for monitoring and to support. External contractors will be used for repairs and maintenance outside the scope of the role.
* The hourly rate for this role is the living wage if $27.80
* We are likely to see increased occupancy over Easter and Anzac. We then expect the occupancy rate to be minimal and then increase again around Labour weekend, thus balancing out the hours required over a busy period.



About you

* You must be available for the fixed-term period of 12 months
* A strong belief in providing a customer focused experience
* A cheerful, welcoming, and kind manner towards our visitors
* Be physically fit and active
* Experience of minor general building & grounds maintenance and cleaning
* Strong computer literacy, including social media, Microsoft Office programs, invoicing, planning & email communication
* Eligible to work in NZ and hold either NZ Residency or valid Work Permit
* Current Full NZ Drivers License
* Pass a NZ Police vetting request submission and a satisfactory drug and alcohol test
