Hours will be 15-17 hours (2-3 days) per week starting on a 3-4-month fixed term contract with the possibility of developing into permanent part-time.Key responsibilities for this role include:Provide support and guidance to managers in recruitment, performance management and employment relations, remuneration and change managementStay informed on People and Culture policies and processes and advise management accordinglyBuild strong relationships with Council managers, employees, and unionsLiaise with internal teams on employee offers, changes, and resignationsWhat you will bring:Genuine interest in Employment Relations case workStrong communicator and team player who keeps colleagues up to dateTertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline, or significant relevant experiencePractical working experience as a generalist HR practitioner of at least 5 yearsAbility to coach, and mentor people leadersA sound understanding and working knowledge of current employee and industrial relations, NZ employment law and HR best practiceCompetent user of Microsoft products, HR and document management systemsWhat we offer:Flexible working environmentCareer progression and training/development opportunitiesPositive focus of employee health and well-being: Workstation assessments, free flu vaccines, EAP services, 50% off eye exams, discounted gym memberships etcKiwisaver and Superannuation SchemesAccess to sick leave from day one of employmentAppointment time leave: Up to 2 hours paid for important appointments eg.
