competencies are contributing substantially to GEAs success come join us THE POSITION Overall ObjectiveThe Business Development Manager works to improve the market position and achieve financial growth for GEA equipment sales The position is responsible for defining longterm equipment sales strategic goals building key customer relationships identifying new business opportunities negotiating and closing contracts and maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions It is important that the Business Development Manager works closely with other key staff to identify and increase sales opportunities and thereby maximise revenue To achieve this the role is responsible for sourcing potential new customers presenting equipment sales opportunities to them ultimately converting them into clients and managing the ongoing business with the clients to continue to grow the business The role is also responsible for managing existing GEA relationships with clients The Business Development Manager reports to the Managing Director S he will focus on sales of Flow Components and Homogenization equipment and will be the driving force in securing repeat and new sales growth GEA already has a strong market presence in the dairy industry and we are keen to promote ourselves to the food beverage pharma chemical and industrial sectors The key management priorities for the role Identifying current and future opportunities for GEA by establishing and managing a personal rapport with customers and helping resolve their technical challenges Developing a support network both within and outside GEA through building informal relationships with people to get the job done Secure commitment and drive the sales process using NZ support network and the related factory contacts Meeting yearly sales targets Identify addon sales opportunities for GEA equipment from the wider catalogue Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships Build a knowledge base of each clients business organisation and objectives Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application to client processes Execute the responsibilities of a Business Development Manager according to lawful and ethical standards and as referenced in the Policies and Procedures Manual The tasks and responsibilities for the role include Understanding and clarifying customer requirements by proposing changes in equipment or materials discussing benefits of different options Preparing quotation costings using all relevant information This may include transfer price exchange rate freight cost warranty provision commissioning costs training travel etc Preparing quotation documents coordinating information from multiple sources setting the structure of the sales document and ensuring a well written document is presented Where necessary reviewing contractual terms and conditions with the company lawyer ensuring the interests of GEA are protected Coordinating with the European factories on major quotations which will require taking skype calls at night Preparing and presenting technical and sales presentations Participating in tradeshows and other marketing activities Contributing to the development of sales forecasts strategic plans and the like Following company systems for governance approvals and information capture Making improvements in systems and procedures to increase efficiency of business processes Ensuring compliance with GEA and customer Health and Safety requirements Other duties as requested by management Communication requirements for the role Key to this role is an ability to communicate for example ideas technical details and complex commercial positions clearly and concisely Superior verbal and written command of the English language is an essential requirement An ability to relate to all levels of an organisation whether internal or external The role requires daily interaction with everyone from the shop floor to the boardroom Type of communication Convey information without creating conflict or destroying trust Customer contact should be face to face whenever possible Regular nationwide travel is expected CANDIDATE PROFILE OverviewCandidates are likely to have a Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification in Business Engineering Science and or equivalent relevant work experience in the dairy food or beverage industry and experience with dairy processing equipment The successful candidate will have an advanced understanding in engineering and technical solutions and methodologies as well as a sound understanding of costing methods profit margin setting and the ability to manage clients S he has a strong track record of delivering results and has already gathered experience in selling not only complex products but associated value added services in a manufacturing and engineering company Correspondingly the candidates have proven their advanced understanding in the businesses of GEA customer relationship management and market development Attention to detail strong initiative and intuitive problemsolving skills as well as negotiating skills are essential for the candidate S he is selfmotivated with excellent communication and listening skills and computer literate CRM experience would be beneficial Candidates must have the right to work in New Zealand Experience CompetenciesBased on the abovementioned requirements candidates for the Business Development Manager position have demonstrated abilities in the following areas Profound experience in equipment sales engineering as proven by Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate technical data and complicated engineered systems Being detail oriented and having a demonstrated ability to provide timely feedback to both internal and external customers Having sound computer knowledge of MS Office products and ideally experience with CRM Being able to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal Having strong initiative and intuitive problemsolving skills Familiarity with the setup of GEA and the local market requirements of various customer groups Understanding the clients and their needs with the ability to provide costeffective technical solutions The ability to identify true priorities and manage time so that the most relevant engineering proposals are given precedence The ability to negotiate a winwin approach or a tactical approach to the negotiation process along with strategies for dealing with difficult people who do not and will not aspire to a winwin philosophy Having strong business development brand building capabilities Having proven track record of delivering results
