Details of the offer

Within the Business Support unit - Specialist Services Directorate
Permanent 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
Based in Dunedin or Invercargill

The Business Support unit provides support to the Executive Director of the Specialist Services Directorate and the directorate's Specialist Services teams. Reporting to the Business Support Manager, this role is within a dedicated team committed to improving the delivery of patient care to the community. Working closely alongside clinical and managerial staff you will be improving both access to, and delivery of, acute care and elective treatment within a dynamic, ever changing environment. This is could be a challenging, yet rewarding, new career prospect for the right applicant.
About the role
Your day to day activities will be involved in the analysis and tracking of the delivery of Elective Services across the district. You will take responsibility and ownership of this position and run with it while working as a part of a focused team, and this calls for someone willing to challenge the status quo and who strives to improve efficiency. You will have ample opportunity to make a difference here.
Key accountabilities of this role are varied, for example:
Participation with surgical and medical services to phase the elective services targets to meet Ministry of Health requirements for provision of elective services to our patients
Data analysis to identify any gaps between the demand and the capacity to deliver both elective and acute volumes and identify the capacity required of resourced theatres, clinics and beds
Build spread sheets, charts and tables as required and demonstrate the data to stakeholders
Monitor and analyse performance of volumes and timeliness against targets

What are we looking for?
You love data and finding the meaning and insights and trends within that data. It goes without saying that you have excellent skills and a passion for excel, plus you can demonstrate (or are willing to learn) a broad range of data skills and analysis methodologies. Equally important is an eye for detail and a high level of skills in both understanding data and in effecting improved data integrity with the improvement of organisational processes.
You will be self-motivated and confident and maintain a positive approach when faced with challenges or roadblocks. The ability to problem solve on the fly, influence people along the way with your data and insights, and exercise sound decision making and judgement will also be necessary in this role. You can build successful working relationships, and are an effective communicator, and you know how to get things done within a complex dynamic environment. Experience in a health environment is desirable but not essential however a commitment to consumer focused activities and outcomes is.
If you are ready for a new challenge and can see yourself thriving in the exciting and unique healthcare environment, we would love to hear from you!
