Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this we are currently recruiting for a Building Inspections Team Leader to join our recently formed National Building Consent Authority. Reporting to the Building Inspections Manager you'll be a key contributor to leadership of the BCA.
You'll provide leadership to the Inspections team and ensure consistent quality of inspections and related activity. This will mean the right processes are in place and being followed, staff are appropriately allocated work within their competency, and have the right support and training.
You'll ensure work volumes are managed successfully through effective work allocation and workload forecasting, augmented by judicious coaching and mentoring, and where necessary, outsourcing to approved consultants.
The role needs people leadership skills, and significant technical building construction and / or inspections knowledge / expertise. A practical and positive approach, combined with relationship management and influencing expertise, is needed to create a high performing inspections environment where quality is the continued focus.
Nga pumanawatanga ou - What you will bring
A relevant building and/or design qualification or experience to achieve required NZ Building Act 2006 Regulation 18
5 - 10 years of experience in a construction management or building regulatory role
2 - 5 years experience of building inspections in a construction management or building regulatory role
Excellent building technical knowledge, application and awareness
Strong legislative knowledge, application and understanding (including revoked legislation)
Good report writing skills and the ability to articulate and analyse the issues
An ability to achieve customer service excellence in a regulatory environment
