Block Manager

Otorohaea Ltd is a family farming business based 45 minutes west of Hamilton comprising of two blocks, 25 minutes apart. Otorohaea Farm block is 575ha, running a breeding operation with 3500 ewes and a heifer trading policy. Kerr Road block is 375ha, running up to 1000 replacement ewe hoggets and 600 beef cattle for finishing.

Rural Directions are pleased to present this Block Manager role to the market, responsible for the day-to-day management of the Kerr Road block. Key tasks include stock shifts, pasture management, animal health and maintaining stock power and water supply. Farmax is used for feed budgeting and a spreadsheet is used to support the feed plan.

The successful applicant will have strong stockmanship and general skills, an understanding of pasture management and 3-4 working dogs. The owner is keen to share his skills and knowledge to help you develop an understanding of the business therefore good communication skills and a willingness to learn are essential.
