Government department requires an experienced BI Senior Developer/Architect for an initial 6 month contract. Expert level experience working with Microsoft stack is needed.
The role:
Provide expert guidance on Business Intelligence skills and technologies.
Provide expert guidance on data modelling
Develop scalable and maintainable BI solutions to meet business objectives
Maintain accurate and complete technical architectural documents
Define BI standards, guidelines and best practices for technical teams
Perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities for BI tools
Recommend strategies to improve performance and capacity of BI tools
Collaborate with Administrators, Developers and Analysts for successful development of BI reporting and analysis solutions
Ensure BI solutions align with Enterprise Architecture roadmaps
Work closely with DSW manager to ensure prioritization of objectives and projects.
Provide assistance to DSW team members with issues needing technical expertise or complex systems and/or programming knowledge
The deliverables:
Create robust SDLC incorporating industry best practices
Assist in the creation of an enterprise wide BI reporting solution
Enhancing the automated testing framework
The expertise, knowledge and skills required are:
Good understanding of data warehouse methodologies and techniques
Good understanding of data warehouse SDLC
8+ years of experience delivering business intelligence solutions
8+ years of experience with OLTP and OLAP database models
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Experienced in data cleaning i.e. able to identify incorrect data within a dataset and work with the appropriate sources to correct data
Expert level experience working with Microsoft stack
Good experience with any additional ETL toolset.
Strong understanding of Modern Data Warehouse concepts
Strong understanding of Data Management principles and practices (Data Quality, MDM, Metadata management, Life Cycle Management)
Strong understanding Data modelling concepts (Third normal form, Dimensional and Data vault)..
Previous experience with data reconciliation, error handling i.e. able to use error handlers to anticipate, detect, resolve and communicate errors within written code in a manner that best suits the end user
Fair understanding of ETL testing
Experienced at using any of the 3rd generation software languages C#, Python, Java or similar.
Good understanding in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment automation
