Bail Support Officers use a holistic, defendant and whanau-centric approach.
They work alongside defendants, whanau, defence counsel, and various community and government social service providers to prepare bail proposals and develop bail support plans for defendants.We're looking for people passionate about making a real difference for defendants and their whanau, who are comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
You should be motivated, willing to learn, adaptable, and a team player.If you believe you have the qualities needed, even if your experience doesn't match 100%, we still encourage you to apply.To be successful, you'll:Be a team player with excellent communication skills, initiative, and drive.Be non-judgemental, see potential in people, and help them use their strengths to make positive life choices.Work across diverse social, cultural, and ethnic communities to effect positive change.Have good attention to detail, gather a wide range of information, and demonstrate sound risk analysis and professional decision-making.Have an understanding of the justice system (not essential), and maintain confidentiality and integrity.Follow health and safety practices and protocols.Be flexible and adaptable within a dynamic environment, working to strict timelines.Work efficiently under pressure, maintaining calmness and focus.Be a motivated problem solver with excellent time management and organizational skills.Write quality, well-structured, and articulate reports.Have excellent computer skills and adapt quickly to new systems and processes.To be considered, you must have a current Full New Zealand Driver's Licence and the right to work in New Zealand for at least 24 months.The starting salary for this role is $64,359.
