Backend Developer

A 6 month contract (option to extend for another 6 months) opportunity exists for an experienced Backend Developer to join this national regulator. The role will be working within the organisations Digital Products Group creating User Stories into a JavaScript environment.

The primary objectives of the role are:
To convert a user story into quality code that will allow the user to meet the objectives as defined by the acceptance criteria
To release high quality code where bug fixes are kept to a minimum
To assist in growing NHVRs delivery capability via Agile Scrum

You will be responsible and accountable for:
clear and concise designs, specifications, stories and wireframes that can then be translated to code
owning the implementation of the front end and ensuring each release is properly unit (dev) tested prior to releasing to the testing team
the continuous upgrade of the style guide
providing feedback to the UX team when appropriate
providing time estimate technical tasks
creating test scripts using Jira and Zephyr \maintaining a daily work log in
assisting in the implementation of any prototypes, screen mock ups, wireframes as required
ensuring the front-end implementation of the solution
adheres to the Governments Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG0 2.0) framework adhering to organisational, governance, and technical standards and processes

To be successful in the role you must have at least 5+ years of experience development domains (NodeJS or Web API Server /JavaScript /jQuery), with strong skills in in Jira or Bamboo or Confluence or Bitbucket.

Additionally, candidate should be able to demonstrate:
working in a true Agile Scrum environment.
great knowledge working within a defined development frameworks.
experience defining a technical solution where key attributes such as performance and security
experience working and delivering in an integrated code in multi-disciplinary environment
experience using JIRA (or a similar tool) in an Agile Scrum Framework.
