At the heart of the electricity sector, we transport high voltage electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution businesses that deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.About the TeamThe Strategy & Insights team supports the Executive General Manager Strategy, Regulation & Governance, the Executive Leadership Team, and the broader Transpower business to be well informed of what changes in the sector and wider economy might look like, and to identify and take advantage of opportunities to enable New Zealand's energy future.A relatively small team, the Strategy Team works across the business, engaging with SMEs, to produce insights on Transpower's operating environment, supports the delivery of high-quality analysis, and contributes to the shaping of Transpower's strategy, and the planning and implementation of initiatives by the organisation and its divisions.About the OpportunityYou'll be joining a fast-paced, high-profile, and dedicated strategy team, in a key research and analysis role.
Working alongside our Head of Strategy, Senior and Principal Strategy Advisors, you will interface with a range of stakeholder groups contributing to valued and important work by developing facts-based insights and analysis across a broad range of topics including decarbonisation, electrification, societal changes, policy changes, or technology development.You will undertake varied and interesting work with short, medium, and long-term implications, to inform our strategic direction.
This can be summarised by three key dimensions:Monitoring and identifying changes in infrastructure trends domestically and internationally to help shape Transpower's strategic agenda and implement strategic initiatives.Delivering high-quality analysis to support Transpower's commercial and regulatory obligations to government, customers, and the community.Supporting the Head of Strategy in shaping the organisation's strategic agenda and effectively implementing strategic initiatives, which in turn supports Transpower in achieving its strategy and purpose.With good coaching and mentoring, in support of your development, you will progressively gain experience participating in the representation of Transpower to a range of external stakeholders, supporting the development of effective relationships and partnerships to ensure the achievement of Transpower's strategic objectives.What You'll BringWith well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to make recommendations, your CV and cover letter will be backed by a tertiary-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience and demonstrate:A minimum of 2+ years' experience in policy, research, or strategic advice.Attention to detail when performing analytical/data tasks.Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of tasks/projects.Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.Proven ability to identify, frame, and work on key issues at pace and with agility - short, medium, and long term.Sound experience in modelling.Advanced proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite.Whilst not essential, the following will be viewed favourably:Experience within the energy or infrastructure sectors.Experience with big data analysis.Join Us at TranspowerAotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
