Location: Wellington Regional Hospital
Contract: Permanent, part time

Medical Assessment and Planning Unit based in Wellington Regional Hospital is a fast-paced 23 inpatient bed unit and also offers ambulatory care. MAPU operates 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. The purpose of the unit is to provide assessment and initial treatment of physiologically stable patient, from either the community or Emergency Department( ED), who potentially require admission under the General Medicine Service.
This position is perfect for you as a senior nurse to take that next step and develop your career in an exciting and challenging ACNM role.
It will be fast paced, challenging, diverse and it is imperative to the patient flow of Wellington Regional Hospital.
DUTIES
We are looking for an experienced registered nurse to manage the patient flow and lead and coordinate the team on the ward on a rostered and rotating basis.
Liaising with the duty nurse managers, the medical team, the multidisciplinary team, patient flow coordinators and charge nurses of other areas, as well as all the staff in the ward is a vital part of this role.
In addition to the coordination of the unit, you will also have responsibility for a portfolio(s) such as rostering, staff appraisals, Professional development Recognition Program (PDRP) assessment or health and safety.
With strong leadership skills and background in acute medical and high-dependency nursing, you will be armed with the skills to tackle this role. Quick and strategic thinking, problem-solving, sound interpersonal skills and impeccable management of complex situations are imperative as you interact with a wide range of people in a pressured environment.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC with proven clinical expertise within acute and high-dependency nursing.
Initiative, solution focused with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks
Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the proven ability to engage people at all levels
You will hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification.
