Nga mohiohio e pa ana ki tenei mahi (About this position)Nelson Hospital’s Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU) allows patients with multiple medical conditions to be assessed by doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers, so that a comprehensive care plan can be put in place. This improves the patient experience, ensure that investigations and treatments are quicker and decreases wait time.
We are recruiting for a Senior Registered Nurse to support the Charge Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department & MAPU on a temporary basis, covering parental leave for up to 12 months from November 2020.
The Associate Charge Nurse Manger (ACNM) will be responsible for daily coordination of the unit in partnership with the dedicated multidisciplinary team. They will provide clinical leadership for staff, assist with coaching and supervision, and will also provide direct patient care. The ACNM will have delegated responsibility for aspects of the CNM role such as rostering and performance management.
This is a temporary full time position working 80 hours a fortnight (1.0FTE), reporting to the CNM ED & MAPU. Shifts will be rostered Mon-Fri between 0700 – 1600 hours.

You will be an expert on a PDRP, or working towards it, with postgraduate nursing or management qualifications. You will be a highly organised, motivated and adaptable individual with a strong team focus and at least five years of senior nursing experience. Additionally, you will have a sound appreciation of the intricacies involved in managing staff and coordinating resources in a sometimes pressured environment.
