Assistant Financial Accountant

Large NZ Government agency seeks experienced Assistant Accountant for a fixed term role until July 2020 in vibrant Wellington CBD.

What you would be doing

The Assistant Accountant reports into the Financial Accounting Team Leader and sit alongside a team of likeminded professionals. The roles’ objective is to provide expert advisory on all intermediate financial accounting processes along with a variety of different reporting procedures,
workflows and projects that take place within the agency.You will be expected to do the following:

End to end Accounts Payable processes
End to end accounts Receivable processes
External Audit liaison contribution
CFIS reporting
Tax returns – GST / FBT / PAYE
General ledger maintenance
Fixed asset register maintenance
End of year audit assistance

Who are we looking for?

I’m on the lookout for anyone who has demonstrated experience as an Assistant Accountant or Assistant Financial Accountant with a comprehension of NZ Government financial functions and exposure to project environments that is open to starting a new and exciting opportunity within a reputable public sector organisation.Ideally you will have the following:

Over 4 years of assistant accounting experience
Strong exposure to financial accounting practices
2-3 years of accounting within NZ government
Experience using CFIS
Knowledge of NZIFRS & GAAPs
An understanding or ERP systems
