Marlborough Oysters is a successful privately-owned oyster production company based in Marlborough. In conjunction with their successful oyster farm operation they own and operate the Flipfarm Oyster growing system. This extremely innovative technique was invented by Marlborough Oysters and is now being used in over a dozen countries around the world.
Due to their ongoing success and with an eye to the future they now have a fabulous opportunity for an Assistant Farm Manager to join their team and support them grow oysters for sale as well as enabling the ongoing development and showcasing of the FlipFarm system.
Role responsibilities will be an interesting mix of farm operations, vehicle and vessel management, compliance and some leadership responsibilities. Depending on your skills and experience you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to Marlborough Oysters continual commitment to innovation and design.
Ideally you’ll be a qualified Skipper and hold an ILM (or equivalent MNZ qualification). With proven vessel handling and safety skills, strong initiative and a natural mechanical aptitude this role is a great opportunity for a positive, practical and enthusiastic team player. Prior experience in the seafood industry is not essential as full training will be provided.
This is a full-time permanent role and the grading and harvesting of oysters is based in Crosilles Harbour. Hours are generally Monday to Friday 6.30am to 6pm (including travel time from Blenheim). A competitive salary package is available for the successful candidate.
This is a rare opportunity to use and develop your skipper skills and be closely involved in the design and testing of new ideas, systems and technology within a small, supportive and world class aquaculture business.
