Palmerston North
This city of 87,000 is located on the North Island of New Zealand and home to Massey University offering an excellent lifestyle and family friendly place to live.
Role
Both positions are 1.0FTE, 40 hours per week and part of a multi-disciplinary child and adolescent team that provides a cluster of services in a community setting supporting infant, children and adolescents’ mental health to help Tangata Whaiora (service users) achieve their maximum health potential within the specific complex area of eating disorders through assessment and/or intervention. The successful candidate will provide mental health services as an active, supportive member of the team in a collaborative environment providing specialist assessments and treatments to children, adolescents and their Whanau (family). Developing treatment programmes, understanding training to clinicians within the team and facilitating Whanau meetings as well as family interventions are all part of the scope of this position. Maintaining relationships with ken internal and external stakeholders, providing triage to clients in crisis and undertaking other duties to keep the service running effective and efficiently are all expected outcomes to maintain service leadership.
Essential Competencies
At least three to five years, or more, post license training and experience in child and adolescent mental health setting and/or open to working with children, adolescents and their families;
Knowledge of child psychology and development;
Able and willing to manage your own caseload;
Able and willing to provide a range of assessments;
Able and willing to provide a range of therapies including CBT, DBT and others;
Must have a lovely personality with a smashing sense of humour!;
Acceptance and experience working with children and their families who may have mental health problems;
Commitment to consumer-focused care and recovery;
Full driver’s license;
Computer literacy;
Able to apply theoretical concepts and professional knowledge to practice;
Eligible to receive your NZ Psychologist with *clinical* scope;
Annual practicing certificate prior to starting work;
Able to meet Immigration New Zealand’s health, police background check and other requirements for a work visa; and
Able and willing to commit at least two years.

Registrstion
Registration for most overseas Clinical Psychologists is reciprocal so you don’t have to sit an exam. It’s easy!
Compensation
The vast majority of our Clinical Psychologists are part of our public health care, community based, mental health system and are paid via a national collective pay agreement. I’m happy to discuss salary and cost of living information with you.
