Responsibilities:Work cross-enterprise to provide risk and resilience data and modeling.Provide data for climate-related disclosures and adaptation plan initiatives.Engage in challenging analytical work that will drive significant value.Support resilience and climate change adaptation for critical infrastructure worth $5b, through data collection and analytics for the National Grid!Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.As the owner and operator of New Zealand's electricity transmission grid, we provide a critical service, including seeking to understand how the grid can deliver the cost-effective level of service expected by customers while accommodating the growing demand for renewable electricity through the electrification of industry and transport.About the Team:Transpower's Grid Development division works to identify grid needs for the next 30 years.
We undertake critical activities to inform investments that ensure the grid is safe, reliable, and resilient, and that these investments are integrated with wider system plans.Our Strategy Performance and Risk group develops our asset management system, including our grid strategies, risk, and resilience information.
The team also reports on grid performance, manages asset and system information, and models asset health and criticality.Our newly created Resilience and Adaptation team of four is responsible for risk and resilience information, frameworks to support resilience and adaptation within the asset management system, and provides risk and resilience reporting.The Opportunity:You'll work collaboratively to improve our risk and resilience information and modeling, including working with researchers to acquire new data.We'll support you to further develop the grid risk and resilience dataset and applications, ensuring information is clear, communicated, and fit-for-purpose for future-focused decision-making.You'll deliver data analysis and modeling to enable risk-based decisions across the Grid business and improve Transpower's understanding of its vulnerability to major hazard events and the impacts of those events.
You'll provide climate-related and non-climate-related reporting of risk and support initiatives within the Transpower adaptation plan.Ultimately, you'll grow your skills as both an Analyst and Asset and Risk Management professional through broadening and deepening your appreciation of infrastructure resilience, climate adaptation, and resilience modeling for over $5b of assets that are critical infrastructure for Aotearoa.What Will You Bring?You'll enjoy utilizing your experience in data and analytics to inform decision-making and your astute analytical and communication skills.
In this role, you'll also have an opportunity to grow your facilitation ability, with support from a Senior Risk Advisor.To Be Shortlisted, Your CV, Cover Letter, and Career to Date Will Demonstrate:Sound analytical skills and the ability to interrogate and structure data sets.Understanding or experience of Asset or Risk Management and how data informs decision-making.Demonstrated ability to solve problems and improve information for internal customers.Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to establish strong working relationships with other teams.Experience using platforms such as PowerBI, Python, and other analytics and data management software.While not essential, a general understanding of critical infrastructure would be an advantage.Join Us at Transpower:Aotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
