At Counties Manukau Department of Anaesthesia we recognise that our strength is our people. Our anaesthetists are collegial, flexible and skilled team members. Together we meet the demands of a busy clinical workload for a broad range of surgical specialties, serving a diverse ethnic and socio-economic population.
Permanent and fixed term posts are available, and fulltime employment is preferred. In line with current international practice Counties Manukau is looking to develop a world-class perioperative medicine service and therefore special consideration will be given to anaesthetists with perioperative medicine experience or interest.
CM Health surgical services operate over two sites; Middlemore Hospital, a 1000+ bed hospital with 14 operating theatres, and Manukau Surgical Centre, an elective surgical unit of 78 beds, 10 operating theatres and an anaesthesia-led post-operative care unit. We provide approximately 32,000 anaesthetic episodes per year for all surgical services, except cardio-thoracics and neurosurgery, for adult and paediatric patients as well as a busy obstetric service. Middlemore Hospital has one of the busiest acute surgical units in Australasia, requiring specialist cover on-site in the evenings and weekends to support 5 fellows and 23 anaesthesia trainees.

Essential:
You will preferably have an FANZCA qualification or equivalent
Vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
A current Annual Practising Certificate with the NZMC
