About the Role
As a key member of our Anaesthesia team, you will play anessential role in delivering high-quality perioperative care across a range ofsurgical specialties.
Working in acollaborative and well-respected team, you will contribute to both planned careand acute services, ensuring safe and effective patient outcomes.
You will become part of a dedicated team of 17 experiencedand supportive SMO colleagues, six ANZCA basic trainees along with a highlycompetent surgical and ICU team, all committed to delivering excellence inpatient care.
You will be working within a secondary care settingparticipating in the anaesthetic roster, covering planned care and acutetheatre sessions, anaesthesia after-hours on call support, anaestheticpre-assessment clinics and working as the duty anaesthetist.
About the Team/Service/Location
Nelson's Anaesthesia team consists of experiencedconsultants, ANZCA trainees, skilled anaesthetic technicians, and registerednurse assistants to the anaesthetist.
We pride ourselves on our collegialenvironment, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment tocontinuous learning and development.
Our Anaesthesia service provides support to the acute painmanagement service and other departments including Obstetrics and Gynaecology,Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology,Dental, Mental Health, and the Emergency department.
The service also offersanaesthesia for visiting subspecialty surgeons in Paediatric Surgery,Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastics, and Maxillofacial Surgery.
These positions offer an excellent work–life balance and abroad case mix across surgical specialties, encompassing both elective andacute care, within a supportive and collegial environment.
We seek threepermanent 1.0 FTE (80 hours per fortnight) candidates to join our team.

About you
The ideal applicant will:
Bringclinical expertise to a smaller provincial hospital and contribute to thecare of patients in the Nelson Tasman region.
Beeligible for an Annual Practicing Certificate with vocational scope inAnaesthesia with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
HoldFellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists(FANZCA), or equivalent.
Workwith others to promote a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice,openness and respect across disciplines.
