The Mental Health and Addiction Directorate brings together the 'end-to-end' activities and functions for mental health and addiction services, including strategy, policy, data analysis, service planning and improvement, commissioning and monitoring. It will also lead the response to the Inquiry into Mental Health and Addiction. Addiction recovery is a priority programme and we are seeking an Advisor to join the Addictions team within the System Outcomes group.
In this role you will be placed within the National Drug Intelligence Bureau and responsible for providing advice and analysis on the illicit and potentially illicit drugs and precursors affecting New Zealand and New Zealanders, including emerging trends and issues. This will involve the preparation of assessments and responding to queries from partner agencies, and administering or project managing particular projects as needed. This work is carried out in collaboration with other staff and external stakeholders.
You will need to be a well-rounded team player with excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders. Some experience of the health and disability sector and/or government would be desirable.
This position will be assigned to the Addictions team and report to the Manager of that team, with supervision from the Intelligence Supervisor and the Coordinator, National Drug Intelligence Bureau.
This position is a permanent position, based in Wellington.
