Adaptive Supervisor | Ski and Ride | WhakapapaThe Whakapapa whanau are a small but ambitious team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola. Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding rohe (region), some even third or fourth generation.
Mo te tunga | About the role In this role as our Adaptive Supervisor, you will help to refresh and re-establish our Adaptive programme at Whakapapa.
Key responsibilities include:
Assume the daily operational responsibilities of the development of the Adaptive CentreAssist in the training and development of staff to ensure all staff can effectively meet customer needsEnsure staff are adequately trained and informed of current product and service information and their responsibilities each day in regard to lesson times and breaksEnsure performance standards are clearly communicated to staff and monitoredCommunicate with the Ski & Ride School/ Guest Services staff with regard to the booking of private lessons and all other pre-booked instruction within the Ski & Ride SchoolThis is a skilled role, which requires standard snowsports instructors qualifications, as well as endorsements for adaptive learning.
We'll need you to bring your "A" game as well as these key traits:
Minimum of NZSIA / SBINZ Level 2 or overseas equivalent NZSIA Level 2 Adaptive Certification or overseas equivalent Considerable experience in and knowledge of Adaptive teaching proceduresAbility to build effective working relationships with a wide range of people Commitment to a strong customer service ethicPunctual and reliableHigh energy levels We're not just looking for you to be technically savvy though, you'll also need to share a set of values that helps make us who we are and be enthusiastic about being on the floor getting your hands dirty when needed.
If successful, you will be required to participate in a vetting process by the New Zealand Police.

The receivers continue trading the Company and are working on transferring the ownership of the Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas to new operators. On 18 December, DOC announced public notification of Pure Turoa Limited's concession application to operate Turoa ski area. The Receivers are continuing to work on the sale of Whakapapa.
