The position of acting teaching principal commences 4th June 2024 (with the possibility of an earlier start date for a handover period). This could be an exciting step into a principal role for the first time, or an opportunity for an experienced principal to enjoy a great rural community lifestyle. Macraes Moonlight is a full primary school, with a current roll of 15 students (projected roll of 20 students in June). The successful applicant will be teaching 0.7 in the Y4-8 classroom. Thanks to a very supportive community, we fund a second classroom, currently led by two experienced teachers in a job-share position and both of whom have been teaching at Macraes Moonlight School for several years. Our wonderful office administrator provides a wealth of knowledge and experience to support the school. We are located in the historic Macraes village, 34 km inland from Palmerston and just over an hour's drive from Dunedin city. Macraes has a rich history of 150 years of gold exploration and key community involvement in farming. A well-maintained, semi-furnished school house is available to rent with the position.
